 A SPECTACULAR EXPERIENCE NOT TO BE MISSED.Aug 12, 2000
As an avowed Irish Tenor devotee, this opinion is hardly unbiased. I am privileged to own every CD put out by these phenomenal singers, both singles and together. This concert is more relaxed than the first one from Dublin, but no less beautiful in composition as well as execution. Finbar Wright, already a huge star in the music world, sings a moving rendition of Carrickfergus and is heartfelt in his offering of Green Isle of Erin. Anthony Kearns' rendition of There is a Flower That Bloometh from one of the three Irish operas, Maritana, shows the beauty and promise of his pure lyric tenor voice. John McDermott's emotional guest appearance shows us, once again, not only the beauty of his voice, but of his person as well. Ronan Tynan bares his soul when he sings Phil Coulter's Scorn Not His Simplicity. If you don't know Ronan's story, then may I suggest that you treat yourself to reading it. There have been numerous articles and documentaries on his unbelievable life of faith and courage. Amazon.com will have his biography available in the spring of 2001 and can be pre-ordered now. Ronan's music finds its origins in his heart and soul and you can hear it in every note he sings. It is obvious that the guys have a great time with the more lighthearted songs on this video and their enjoyment in doing them is contagious. If you have never heard of The Irish Tenors and don't have any of their CDs, then purchasing this video is a great place to start. You cannot go wrong. It is a "must have" for all Irish and non-Irish music lovers.

The Irish tenors were my first love in singing and prompted me to learn more. I credit them with helping me realize the beauty of singing classically several years ago. This concert was a great mix of everything that is great about the group.
Antony kearns is my favorite voice in the group. His velvety lyric tenor is a thrill to listen to here. What is even more thrilling is that his voice continues to get more beautiful and darker year by year. He has recently added aria's from tosca to his reperitoire and I think that one day he will he a fine operatic tenor. Here we see him at his most lyric and beautifull. Bantry Bay and "there is a Flower" are the highlights showing the incredible control he has over his voice. He is the greatest and commands the stage whenever he opens his mouth to sing.
Finbar is another distict and great talent. I enjoy his voice and the rich quality it brings. His performance is enjoyable and his highlight would have to be Isle of Inishfree. He does get a little overly scoopy on occasion and it can bother you occasionally but he is really a gem. Each time I have seen the tenors live his voice has stuck out. He is really a great interpreter and performer. If you enjoy his voice check out the opera Concert he gives on vhs which is available at Amazon.
I must admit that i don't particularly like Ronan Tynan's voice. This is just a personal thing. I feel it is too covered and in the back of his throat. He compunds this problem with excessive and non-stop gesturing. He is often emotional and intence and I enjoy his performances when he can stay under control. What he does bring is an air of levity and lightness to concerts that the tenors cannot do without. In this way he pulls his weight in the team.
John Mcdermott is not my kind of voice. For what he is, a folk singer, he is fabulous. I never thought that is voice properly blended with the other tenors and Finbar is a better choice.
This is a great movie and a must see for tenors fanslooking for a fun filled and relaxed performance.

These three top flight performers have recreated something that has been missing from the world's concert stages since the heydays of the great John McCormack and the legendary Richard Tauber. (More so, insofar as you get three for the price of one).Their stylish and highly polished performances were breathtaking, to say the least; and I cannot envisage anything ever topping the memorable Belfast concert. The rapport with the audience was instantaneous, and you do not need to have one drop of Irish blood in your veins to appreciate the quality of their voices; particularly the wonderful Celtic lyricism of Anthony Kearns' voice. Long may they reign!

Great change in Irish Tenor's line-upFeb 23, 2001

This album sent me on a search for all Finbar Wright's music. I now own all his albums and play them repeatedly. He is a magnificent addition to the voices of Anthony Kearns and Ronan Tynan. A very fine fit! Their classical renditions of the traditional Irish folk songs is perfectly beautiful. And they have great fun with each other which makes watching the video version of this album a real treat.

Irish Tenors-- wholesome and touchingAug 02, 2000

I saw them in Boston and they put on quite an entertaining show even if you aren't Irish. Lively and emotional and they thoroughly enjoy performing in front of an appreciative audience. For anyone who can appreciate great music, they are a treat to hear. Finbar, Anthony, and Ronan have their unique styles (if you have a good ear) and they blend well onstage and put on an easygoing and professional performance. I look forward to more live performances. Until then, this tape gives almost the full flavor of a live show.
